In a quiet studio in Jammu, the sound is not of machines but of hands. A block of seasoned teak, the gleam of real silver, and the steady rhythm of an artisan’s breath; this is where October’s story begins.
Real silver, or chandi, block printing is one of India’s most exquisite yet endangered textile arts. Once treasured in royal courts—where kings and queens wore silver-printed drapes as symbols of prestige and power; it is now a dying art form, held by only a handful of artisan families. Over time, with changing fashions and industrial production, this craft slowly began to disappear, losing its essence.
At October, we are working to revive and reform this rare technique. The process begins with pure silver, carefully prepared and pressed onto fabric using hand-carved wooden blocks. Each impression carries not just a motif, but the weight of centuries of devotion. Unlike imitation foils, real silver deepens with age, developing a patina that tells its own story.
For us, bringing back this lost art is not just about design—it is a promise to keep heritage alive. When you wear an October real silver collection, you carry forward a legacy that deserves to shine again.
